2008 Clean Calgary Association Rain Barrel Sale a Huge Success!

Clean Calgary Association would like to thank all the volunteers who gave us their time and enthusiasm to make this year’s rain barrel sale the most successful one yet. Many of the volunteers at this event have been coming year after year and watching us grow.  This year, Clean Calgary Association added a fourth sale location at the Whitethorn location in the North East of Calgary. We are delighted to announce that we sold a four site total of 1694 barrels in a few short hours! This means an important increase in water conservation in Calgary and a successful fundraiser for Clean Calgary Association programs.

Idle Free Campaign

Calling all artists with an interest in air quality and the environment! Clean Calgary Association is hosting a design contest for a decal that will be part of an Idle Free campaign. We are seeking a creative convincing design that will inspire Calgarians to choose to be idle free. Calgarians who chose to become idle free, thus reducing their transportation-generated carbon dioxide emissions and improving air quality, will be able to display this decal in their car, at work, in school and at home.

Dealing with Waste Paint

Q:

Dear Ashley,

My husband and I just moved into a new (used) house and we have inherited dozens of cans of old paint. Most of it doesn’t look fit for reuse and I couldn’t even tell you if the paint is latex or oil-based. What is a person to do with used paint in Calgary?
